Step 1--Become a Living Library
If you've already watched this video, you are all set to buy the book at www.TheLiLiKey.com/shop, Park Road Books, or on Apple Books. If you cannot afford to purchase, please apply for a FreeLi Scholarship pack for free books and Keys. (Scholarship packs are reserved for families experiencing significant financial hardship and would not otherwise be able to afford the book/Key. Each book purchased on our website serves a child in need!)
Once you've read the book and feel you are a Living Library, it's time to get your Key!
Step 2--Claim your Key of choice!
The price of one LiLi Key comes included with each physical book purchase. (Just register, and pay $3.99 per Key shipping and handling at checkout.) Choose from gold pendant or silver military dog tag.
If you did not buy the book, or need additional Keys, or purchased the eBook, your Keys can be purchased for a reasonable price in either gold or silver. All of our LiLi Keys are made in New York by the same company that has the largest contract with the US military for US dog tags and ball chains.
Be sure to play and enjoy the BibLi O. Board Game while you wait for your Key to arrive in the mail. The more you play, the sooner it will come! You can download the game for free, or purchase a game and dice to be shipped to your LiLi. Use game log 1 and game log 2 to track your progress. Once you have completed both logs, send a pic of your completed logs to info@living-libraries.com for a special bonus prize!
Step 3--Continue Unlocking your Unlimited Potential with Us!
Being a LiLi can be done all by yourself! All you need is the book and Key and you can unlock as many books at your heart desires. The more you read, the more you will continue to unlock your own unlimited potential and become your most capable self, in school and in life! Readers become leaders! #1MLiLis are going to change the world!

- Enroll as a scholar in our LiLi University virtual online LiLi Degree program. Here you will get interactive instruction on 26 Keys that will fill your personal Life Keychain. These soft skills and socio-emotional skills can catapult you on a brightest path in school and in life!
- Sign up for a one-on-one mentor in our Living Literaries (LiLit) mentorship program. As a LiLi mentee, you will be paired with a vetted LiLit mentor who will call/video chat, write you once a week to make sure you are progressing as you aim to unlock your highest potential.
- Become a LiLi Ambassador! If you love everything about being a LiLi, and you want to help us reach out goal to become a team of one million LiLis strong, our Ambassadors program could be a great fit! Our Ambassadors publicly represent our brand in media and online and we are always seeking passionate, diverse LiDers to join our team.
- LiRents: (That's LiSpeak for LiLi Parents.) Mentor another LiLi in our Living Literaries mentorship program. It only takes 10 minutes a week from your phone or a computer, (or snail mail!) and it might be some the most rewarding moments you get to experience. Q: What is a Living Library?
A: A Living Library, or LiLi for short is a new type of modern, upgraded bookworm on a mission. LiLis are coherent and resilient, Superhuman learners and leaders with the power of the LiLi Key. This actually LiLi Key necklace makes reading more fun! Any child from any walk of life can become a LiLi if they want to be and believe they can be just my reading our book. LiLis are, “The readers and the leaders, the dreamers and doers. They are the most unstoppable mountain movers.”—The LiLi Key, 2nd Edition. LiLis have big hearts, care about people animals and the environment and want the world to be a safer, better cleaner place for all.
Our LiLis Ambassadors, who represent LiLis from 46 states, are working to grow our LiLis team to 1 million plus so together we can up-level the entire planet! The world needs more Living Libraries!
Q: Is it a big commitment to become a Living Library/LiLi?
A: Absolutely not! Becoming a LiLi is as easy as reading our interactive book, The LiLi Key, which is also available instantly via eBook. The child will experience the book and know based on their levels of genuine excitement and positive emotion, if they have what it takes to be a real Living Library! If they feel genuine positive emotion when hugging the book-- that’s is all that it really takes to become a LiLi! (Note: Some children will need to read the book several times before they really feel it and can create that state of heart-brain coherence.)
Most new LiLis choose to take it a step further by registering for their own LiLi Key necklace, a powerful symbol and reminder that it is their job every day to unlock books so they can become their very best selves and fill the many living books inside them.
Note to parents: The actual part of the book where the child transforms into a LiLi is called the “LiBook Activation Sequence.” Here they will be listening to your words, and hugging the book with their eyes closed, while they feeling, sensing and imagine the guided visualization you, the emcee will take them through. You will want to make use you have the LiBook Activation text handy before reading the book. This text is available in both in English and Spanish on a single page in the back of the book, so you can easily take a picture with your device to read at the right time.
Once children become LiLis, many enthusiastic ones choose to continue the journey with us by signing up for our various offerings as show in the LiLi Guide above. These offerings are wonderful for developing increased literacy frequency and enjoyment, leadership, self-esteem, empathy and sense of community, but these offerings are in no way required to be a true LiLi. Being a LiLi is felt in the heart and is a product of what happens when the heart and the brain fully connect during a state of heart-brain coherence.
Q: What is heart-brain coherence?
A: Heart-brain coherence is what happens when the brain and heart powerful align on a positive objective, in this case--becoming a LiLi. This state of flow produces a flood of endorphins and other feel goo chemicals that can have a long-lasting effect on the LiLis, and lead to a powerful, and memorable pivotal experience. Most LiLis can clearly remember the moment they became a Living Library. Cultivating a state of heart-brain coherence has many, many health benefits. You can read more about them at the non-profit HeartMath Institute. www.HeartMath.org has been conducting research on the benefits of heart-brain coherence for more than 30 years.
Q: What is the age range for LiLis?
A: LiLis range from ages 4 to 14 with a median age of 10. If you child is young, but already loves to read, becoming a LiLi with The LiLi Key book could go smoothly on its own-- with your help and guidance. However, we suggest starting with The PreLi Key, a prequel to The LiLi Key. This book prepares younger children for when it’s their turn to become a real LiLi. It’s also great if there are older siblings in the house who are already LiLis.
Q: Where can we get the book?

Q: What if I cannot afford to purchase a book but my child still wants to become a LiLi?
A: We can help! We operate on a BOSO model, which stands for Buy One Serve One. Every child deserves the chance to become a LiLi! This means for every book purchased from our website, a child in needs from our FreeLi Scholarship waitlist gets to become a Living Library as well!
Q: How does the FreeLi Scholarship Program work?
A: We are able to offer free books, eBooks and Keys at the rate they are purchased/sponsored. We thank you for your patience if the process takes longer than it should. We will do our best to fulfill your request in a timely manner. Once you have registered for the FreeLi Scholarship Program, and we have sent you your products, you will still need to register for your child’s Key once they become a LiLi. Make sure to do this here, so you don’t get charged the shipping and handling. Please note The FreeLi Key Scholarship program is reserved only for those who are experiencing significant financial hardship and cannot afford a book or Key. Q: How does my child get their own LiLi Key if we are not on the FreeLi Scholarship program?
A: All LiLi Keys are ordered or requested from our website www.TheLiLiKey.com. New LiLis can choose BibLi O. Teca’s Key, which is gold, or LiBro’s Key which is a silver military dog tag style. If you purchased a physical book, your Key price is included, but we do ask that you pay the $3.99 shipping and handling. (One Key of choice comes with each book purchase.) If you need additional Keys, replacement Keys, or Keys to correspond with any eBook purchase, they can be also purchased for $7.99 plus shipping and handling in our shop. We do our best to keep our prices as low as possible while still offering our BOSO model so children in need can get Keys as well. Thank you for being honest and not cheating our small business!
Q: What results or change can I expect from my LiLi?
A: Every LiLi is unique and will experience being a LiLi differently. However, LiLis who use Keys to unlock books and participated in additional programming, report reading 50% more on average.

Q: How did Living Libraries come about?
A: Our founder, and author of The LiLi Key series, Kristi Cruise has dedicated her life to children and literacy issues. Previous to Living Libraries, Cruise spent more than a decade in grass-roots early literacy work with high-risk readers, while leading the charge to gift hundreds of thousands of books to children who were living in pre-identified book deserts in the Charlotte, NC area. Although the work was extremely rewarding, she knew so much more needed to be done to help all children, from all walks of life, all across the country fall in love with reading in a way that has never been experienced before.
In December of 2018, Cruise’s childhood best friend called to say wish her a final goodbye. He has been released to hospice and was suffering from the final days of stage four liver cancer. He was just 40 years old. He made Cruise promise to quit her job and leave the company she created and built with all her whole heart, to start something completely new that could carry on the love and legacy of their 25 year friendship by helping millions of children become their best selves. He promised to look out for her and the company from above, the same way he did when he was on earth.
In January of 2019, Cruise left the book up-cycling company she founded and continues to hold true to her promise to her best friend to help all children thrive via books.
